Vern Edward Reid

Graveside services for Vern Edward Reid, formerly of Burlington and Greybull, were held Jan. 11 at the Burlington Cemetery. Vern, 76, died Jan. 5 at Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home where he had resided since 2003.
He was born Nov. 14, 1935, at Burlington, the ninth of 10 children of James Douglas and Amy Ann Tanner Reid. He was raised and educated in Burlington. Vern attended two trade schools, one for appliance repair and one for refrigeration. He worked in appliance repair and refrigeration but later farmed and worked 20 campaigns for Holly Sugar.
Vern served in the United States Air Force from Nov. 29, 1955 – Oct. 30, 1959. He served in the Air Force Reserves from Oct. 30, 1959 until Nov. 28, 1961. Vern returned to farming after he was discharged.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
His parents; five brothers, Raymond, Fred, Lawrence, Hubert and Verl; and a sister, Josie Loudan, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sisters, Jean DeGraide of Rhode Island and Cherry Dunaway of Kansas; a brother, Ralph Reid of Billings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
