Funeral services for Marilyn Eva Herman will be Saturday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Whaley Cemetery. Marilyn, 88, died Sept. 1 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin.
She was born April 6, 1926, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Eva Margaret Baustain Sater. She was raised and received her education in Rock Rapids and graduated with the Class of 1944.
She received her Minnesota beautician’s license from a beauty school in Mankato, Minn. She moved to Sioux City, Iowa, to obtain her Iowa license and then moved back to Rock Rapids.
She married Wesley E. Herman Oct. 30, 1952, in Luverne, Minn. The couple moved to Bonesteel, S.D., where he farmed and she was a homemaker. They moved to Rock Rapids in 1960, and to Greybull in 1972.
Marilyn worked as a housekeeper at South Big Horn County Hospital from 1978-1983.
She enjoyed watching television, working word-search puzzles and returning to Rock Rapids every five years for her high school reunions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, two brothers, Vernon and Kenneth Sater, granddaughter Christine Jean Gilmore and her son-in-law, Tony Terry.
She is survived by one son, Dennis Herman of Greybull; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine Terry, Tony and JoAnn Selzer, both of Greybull, and Brian and Nancy Dellos of Worland, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
