Funeral services for Edna Peterson of Burlington will be held Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Burlington LDS Chapel at 10 a.m. Edna, 77, died Oct. 12 at her daughter’s home in Mountain Home, Idaho.
Edna was born Nov. 17, 1936, in Terry, Prairie County, Mont., the daughter of June Evelyn McCarty and Harold Lee. The family later moved to Cody and then settled in Meeteetse where she was raised by her mother and stepfather, William “Bill” Devine.
Edna graduated from Weber State College in Ogden, Utah with a degree in social science. She worked in Basin as a counselor and retired as the administrator of a group home in Basin.
She married Oliver William Peterson Jr. on Oct. 13, 1952, in Billings.
Edna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.
Edna loved to take meals to the sick and specialty breads to family and friends. Her family remembers that she decorated her home for every holiday and delighted in family reunions. Her hobbies included knitting, reading, cooking, computers, sending letters and cards and genealogy.
Edna was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kelly Kay.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver William Peterson Jr. of Burlington; six children, Dallas Dale Peterson of Cody, Deena René and Henery Michael Smith of Mountain Home, Idaho, Edwin Oliver Peterson of San Diego, Calif., Jack Harold and Kerry Peterson of Burlington, Daryl William and Kathleen Peterson of Layton, Utah, and Randee Inez Peterson Kimmel of Riverton; her siblings, David and Karen Devine, Gail and Ed Gullion, Ron and Susan Devine, Diane Devine, and Melody and Dean Sell; 15 grandsons, 15 granddaughters and 36 great-grandchildren.
Interment at the Burlington Cemetery will be followed by a family celebration at the Burlington LDS Cultural Hall.
