Funeral services for Shell native Robert LaVerne Leavitt of Billings, Mont., were held Nov. 19, at Morning Star Senior Living in Billings. Robert, 80, died Nov. 16 of pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born June 23, 1934, in Shell, the son of Paul and Ellen Leavitt. He graduated from Greybull High School in 1952, attended the University of Wyoming and graduated from Cal State Fullerton. He served two years in the U.S. Army.
Robert married Joy Leavitt on Dec. 6, 1959, in a Methodist Church in Rosemead, Calif.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Robert loved the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two aunts, Blanche and Rachel, and an uncle, Andrew Leavitt.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joy; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Maggie Leavitt, Russell and Alice Leavitt and Tom and Cindy Leavitt; two sisters, Carol and Frances; one aunt, Barbara; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
