A celebration of the life of Asia Dawn Bessler of Powell was held Dec. 20 in the Northwest College Yellowstone Building in Powell. Asia, 23, died Dec. 14 at her home in Powell from complications of chronic asthma.
She was born Oct. 25, 1991, in Cody, the daughter of Andrea “Dee” Baker Bapst. She grew up in Powell, graduated from Powell High School and attended Northwest College.
Asia’s parents divorced when she was very young. In 2001, she and her sister EmiLee gained a loving, nurturing father when David Giles married their mother and accepted the girls as his own.
Asia endeavored to make the world a better place. She loved her friends, the many members of their extended family, but especially her only sister.
She married Brian Bessler in Powell in 2012.
Asia was preceded in death by her 16-year-old sister, EmiLee, who was killed in a car accident.
She is survived by her husband Brian of Powell; her parents David and Dee Giles of Powell; her grandparents, Linda and Kirk Waggoner of Cody, Harvey Baker of Powell, former Basin resident Patty Giles of Powell, Bill Giles of Cody and her great-grandmother, Peggy Buntin of Powell.
