A memorial service for Wallace ”Wally” LeRoy Moon was held April 15 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Basin. Wally, 89, died April 7, at the West Park Hospital Long Term Care Center in Cody.
He was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Greybull, the son of Wallace Baird and Ella Eunice Cook Moon. He grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.
Wally joined the United States Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged.
He worked for the Hughes Tool Company for 20 years. Later in life, Wally worked in the Big Horn County Assessor’s office.
Wally loved to sing and shared his talent at church, in the Community Choir, at funerals and other events. He loved St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where he was a member; he spent much time at the church.
His parents, Wallace and Ella Moon, and two sisters, Shirley Larsen of Arizona and Bernice Aagard of Burlington, preceded Wally in death.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Burial was in Mount View Cemetery in Basin.
