Shell Daze! includes garden tour, salad lunch, art show

“Shell Daze!” on Saturday, June 27, offers tours of five different gardens, a delicious salad lunch, and a stroll down an “avenue of art” at the Shell Community Church and Karyne Dunbar’s Art Shelter east of Shell. The events are sponsored by the Wild Roses Garden Club.

Tickets, at $10 per person, are available in advance at the Sugar Shack and Big Horn Antiques in Greybull and Dirty Annie’s in Shell or in front of the Shell Community Church or any of the locations the day of the Daze! The tour starts at 10 a.m.

Veda Gerrard, a member of Wild Roses Garden Club, said there is no “group“ tour. If you have a ticket, and a list of gardens, enjoy them at your leisure. Banners will be at all five locations as well as at the Shell Community Church and Art Shelter.

Gardens to be toured include, starting at Greybull and heading east: Gary and Becky Anderson’s “new garden in progress” and Xeriscape landscaping; Jeri Bachman’s formal garden and large waterfall; going north from Bachman’s, viewers can stop at Veda Gerrard’s 25-year-old perennial garden/ trees (if it’s hot you can sit and enjoy the shade) and a rose garden that includes 40 rose bushes.

Next are the raised garden beds of Frank and Bette Neal, on the hill just before you enter Shell. The Tyrrell residence in Shell has a large green house and a “lily-pad” patio, for something a little different.

The salad luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Shell Community Church.
