Forty-eight golfers teed off at Midway Golf Course on the Fourth of July in the 14th annual Linda Madden Memorial four-person scramble golf tournament.

The “hotly” contested tournament is held annually on the Fourth of July and monies generated from this tournament support scholarships for local area students. This year’s scholarship winners were Karlina McIntosh of Greybull High School, Macey Allen of Riverside High School and Jessica Whetham of Greybull High School.

Michael, Michelle, Gavin and Scott McColloch won the tournament with a net score of 44.9.

Carl, Carmen, Chris and Crystal Olson were second with a score of 48.9.

third place went to Al Madden, Garrett, and Loren and Naomi Niemitalo.

The team with the highest score is always recognized. This year, that team consisted of Ross Henderson, Wendy Taylor, and Todd and Connie Werbelow, with a score of 66.5.

“This is a great way to spend a Fourth of July,” said Eddie Johnson, a club member. “The funds go to a great cause, the golf course is busy and it is a good day of golf.

“I would encourage all, even those that do not golf very often, to get involved. It is fun.”

The next event at the golf course is the Security Invitational, the format of which has been changed so that ladies can also play.

“The Madden family would like to express its appreciation to Midway Golf Course for its help in getting the course ready to play and all the sponsors that donated prizes and all the golfers that showed up to help support the scholarship fund.”
