Funeral services for Dennis William “Denny” Davidson will be held Thursday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Burlington. Denny, 88, died June 29 at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell
He was born May 1, 1927, in Burlington, the son of Thomas Snyder and Mabel Isadora Todd Davidson. He grew up and received his education in Burlington. To earn money when he was in junior/senior high school, Denny trapped wild animals and sold their skins in the winters, and spent his summers working on farms.
He received his education in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School; he attended the University of Wyoming for one year.
After leaving the University of Wyoming, Denny worked at a variety of jobs: as a ranch hand in Montana; a roustabout in the Oregon Basin oil fields (he worked his way to a superintendent’s job); as a hired hand on farms, maintenance man at a cannery and was a ditch rider. He later was a hod carrier for Ross Wardell and spent a number of years working in the brick construction business for Ross and Albert Wardell in Wyoming and Montana.
He married Beatrice Aagard Aug. 22, 1948, in Burlington; they had 11 children.
As his family grew in numbers, Denny wanted to travel less, so be began working construction on private residences closer to home. Eventually he decided to stay home and farm with his sons.
Denny loved to read poetry and fiction and especially liked books about the Old West (Zane Grey and Louis L‘Amour were two of his favorite authors).
He enjoyed fishing, looking for agates, petrified wood and other rocks and fossils. He and Cliff Aagard polished rocks and crafted rock jewelry (he usually gifted them to family and friends).
His sister and brother-in-law, Wayne and Julie Gotfredson; brother-in-law Reid Hammond; son Kenneth Mark Davidson; sons-in-law Mark Edward Powers and Dan Ray Kline, and grandsons Nathan Alan Christenson, Joshua Davidson and Benjamin Clarke Davidson preceded Denny in death.
He is survived by his former wife Beatrice; his children and their spouses, Dennis and Barbara Davidson, Rebecca Kline, James and Denny Christenson, Jared and Nancy Davidson, Thomas and Patty Davidson, Carol Powers, John and Jeana Davidson, Peter and Susan Davidson, Mathew and Margaret Davidson, Chris and Esther Davidson; daughter-in-law, Anne Davidson; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and NaDee Davidson of California; one sister, Barbara Hammond of Utah; 51 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
