A graveside service for Nancy Jeanette Lassiter will be held Friday, July 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Mount View Cemetery in Basin. Nancy died July 18, 2014 in a one-vehicle accident south of Basin.
Nancy, the daughter of Rob and Nanette Kelsey Lassister, was born April 18, 1986, in Thermopolis. She grew up in Greybull and spent her summers in Basin with her grandparents, Earl and Judy Kelsey.
She received her education in Greybull and graduated from Greybull High School in 2004. In high school, Nancy was involved in speech and debate, and was on the swim and Knowledge Bowl teams. A talented writer, she had her first poem published when she was 13.
Nancy earned her CNA certificate and worked as a CNA in Basin and Worland. She graduated from Northwest College in Powell in 2010 with an associate’s degree in psychology and was working on her bachelor’s degree.
Nancy was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt. She had an inquisitive nature and always had her “‘nose in a book.”
Her maternal grandfather Earl Kelsey and her paternal grandparents Larry “Turk” and Shirley Lassister preceded her in death.
She is survived by partner Crystal Schantle; her mother Nanette Kelsey Lassiter; father Rob Lassiter; two sisters, Angela Lassiter and Jessica Lassiter DeLeon; her brother, Rob Lassiter; maternal grandmother, Judy Kelsey of Basin; Crystal Schantle’s two children and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
