A memorial graveside service with full military honors for Donald Maurice Chapman of Worland will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at Mount View Cemetery in Basin. Donald, 71, died at his home in Worland on July 19.
He was born March 31, 1944, in Basin, the son of Maurice Dudley and Ruth Sublett Chapman. He grew up and received his schooling in Basin and graduated from Basin High School.
Donald joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969 and attained the rank of lance corporal. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged Sept. 23, 1971.
A hard worker, Donald was a painter in the home construction industry.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, was a “hard core” Raiders fan and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3086 in Basin.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Ruth Chapman; three brothers, George, Brad and Tony Chapman, and a sister, Barbara Chapman Vigil.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle L. Sumait in California; his siblings and their spouses, Dorothy “Ellie” Farris of Worland, Richard “Chado” Chapman of Thermopolis, Gary Lynn Chapman of Yuma, Ariz., Wanda Ruth Snoddy of Salt Lake City, , Fred and Eloise “Lesa” Chapman Grisham of Granger, Chad and Debbie Chapman Kerr of Salt Lake City, Douglas and Tammy Kay Chapman Forsythe of Worland and many nieces and nephews.
