Feb. 10, 1925 – Aug. 15, 2015
Funeral services for former Greybull resident Frances “Fran” Hale will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church in Fairview, N.C. Fran, 90, died Aug. 15, in Fairview following heart surgery.
She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Japan, where her father was an executive with Otis Elevator Company. With clouds of World War II gathering, the family returned to the United States in 1938. Fran grew up in New York and New Jersey, and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in early childhood education.
Late in life, she reconnected with her first cousin, Hal Hale, and they were married Aug. 22, 1994.
Fran was reluctant to move to Greybull until one spring morning she walked out the back door and smelled the pink crabapple blossoms; she was hooked.
Fran was an active member of the Quilt Club and other community events.
The Hales moved to Fairview in September 2014.
Memorials in Fran’s name can be made to Wounded Warriors or American Farmland Trust.
