Doyal Ivin Waterworth

OBIT Doyal WaterworthMay 16, 1925 – Nov. 7, 2015

A graveside funeral service for Doyal Ivin Waterworth will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery. Doyle, 90, died Nov. 7 at the Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home.

He was born May 16, 1925, in Competition, Mo., the son of William Earl and Naomi Kincheloe Waterworth. Doyle and his 10 brothers and sisters grew up in southern Missouri and western Iowa. Doyal worked on the family farm and attended school in Hastings, Iowa.

After graduating from high school, Doyle enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the southern Pacific on the USS Reynolds, a destroyer escort.

After his discharge he returned to the United States, met Lorain Smith and the two exchanged vows in California on April 8, 1950.

Doyle worked as a truck driver, a telephone lineman, transported ammunition in the southwestern United States, sold insurance, and did other jobs until he found his calling as a farm equipment salesman (primarily John Deere) which he did for 33 years. He had a way of making people feel that they had known him all of their lives; it was this trait that helped him prosper in his chosen vocation.

Doyal and Lorain lived and raised their family in various places across the Midwest. They moved to Greybull to be close to their children and grandchildren; he retired here. He spent his retirement with Lorain, the love of his life, and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doyal was a generous man who was very proud of his military service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorain Waterworth, in April of 2013; five sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gary and Linda Patrick of Greybull; son and daughter-in-law, Doyal and Cari Waterworth of Worland; one brother, James Waterworth in Arizona; one sister, Joanne Baslee in Missouri; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Following the graveside service, a meal for family and friends will be held at the Greybull Alliance Church, 841 N. Sixth St. in Greybull.

Memorials in Doyal’s name can be sent to Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, Box 471, Greybull, WY 82426.
