On Dec. 21, 2015, Betty Ruth Stoffers passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving husband of 56 years, children, and grandchildren.
Betty Hysell was born in Leadville, Colo., and spent her childhood in Chancellor, S.D., as part of a large family of 11 children, graduating high school in 1958. She married Erwin Stoffers on Nov. 27, 1959, and spent a lifetime showing her support of him with ranching positions in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Wyoming, retiring to the Shell Valley of Wyoming in 2010. During her years of working at The Short Stop (Greybull) and Mini-Mart (Newcastle), she became a friend to many.
Betty’s lively personality brought a smile to all who knew and loved her. Upon news of her death, family and friends alike commented on her ability to make people laugh.
Betty is survived by her husband, Erwin; four children and seven grandchildren: Cynthia Stoffers (Lindsay) of Centennial, Wyo., Terry and Brandi Stoffers (Brittany, Haley, Jory) of Ogden, Utah, Chris Stoffers (JaNae) of Sheridan, Wyo., and Shawn and Tracy Stoffers (Clancy, Carson) of Shell, Wyo.. She is also survived by six sisters: Donna Boullion, Pat Levin, Dixie DeJong, Carol Wilts, Dale Dannen, and Sondra Czepull.
Betty is preceded in death by her mother and father, Alice Berens-Hysell and Dale Hysell; three sisters, Linda Schrodermeir, Billie Buskhol, and Jean Timmerman; and a brother, Richard Hysell.
Atwood Family Funeral Directors assisted the family with the arrangements.
