A memorial graveside service for Elaine H. Turner of Geneseo, Ill., will be held Thursday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery with inurnment to follow. Elaine, 83, of Geneseo, died Dec. 15 at her home. A memorial service was held at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Geneseo on Dec. 22.
Elaine was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Geneseo, the daughter of Henry and Gabrielle Holevoet Paulsen. Her first nine years were spent on a farm on Route 6; then the family moved to town.
After graduating from high school she lived in New York City, San Francisco, and Milwaukee before moving to Phoenix, where she lived for 16 years.
She married Robert Shipman in Phoenix. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She married Jack Turner, a retired rancher from Hyattville, on July 12, 1979. He preceded her in death in 1999 and she moved back to Geneseo.
Elaine was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. She was proud to have celebrated 43 years of sobriety and was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Her two husbands and her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her adopted children: Linda Klavon of Kewanee, Ill., Kathy Minder of Geneseo, Mona Sindelar of Montana and Jill Tharp of Wyoming; two sisters, Louise Wildemuth and Marjorie Lewis, both of Geneseo; one brother, Albert Paulsen of Connecticut, and nine grandchildren.
