Michael Edwin Oliver died at his home in Edwards, Colo., on March 13, 2016. Son of John and Becky Oliver, Mike was the oldest of seven kids. He was born July 22, 1952, in Greybull, Wyo. A graduate of Greybull High School, Mike considered the Basin to be his home. Mike had a love for sports from an early age, playing baseball and wrestling throughout all of his school years. He helped to lead Greybull to their first little league championship as a pitcher in 1964. He continued this love after high school, playing softball in his spare time and devoting much time to his love the Denver Broncos.
Mike moved around the country settling in the Beaver Creek, Colo., area, working as an accomplished stone mason with his fine artistry gracing many of the homes in Vail and surrounding areas. Locally, his work can be seen at Shell Falls. Mike took pride in his work and it showed.
He married Debbie (Walsh), and with love, helped to raise her two kids, Gary Jo and April. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His granddaughter McKella shared his passion for Indian artifacts, helping him to acquire his collection. He enjoyed their history and had quite a collection that he was proud to display and share, especially with her.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother Becky, brother John and stepson Gary Jo. He is survived by his dad John, wife Debbie, stepdaughter April, and brothers Dan (Lori), Steve (Rita), Tim (Rikki), sisters Theresa (Lonney) Howe, and Sheila (Dean) Waddell. His grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will all miss him dearly. There will be a graveside memorial to celebrate his life at a later date.
