Funeral services for Patricia Ann “Pat” Fessell will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Baker City, Ore. Pat, 86, passed away July 11 at her home in Haines, Ore.
Pat was born July 25, 1929, in Cheyenne, the daughter of Paul Richard and Marguerite Clarey Peterson. Pat’s paternal grandparents were pioneer homesteaders in the Cody area.
Pat grew up and attended public schools in Nebraska and Wyoming, and graduated from Greybull High School in 1948. She went on to graduate from Cottey College in Missouri in 1949, and from the University of Colorado in 1953, with her bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Pat married Robert E. Reed on Sept. 1, 1953, in Billings. The couple lived in Burlington, Vt., while he served in the Air Force; in Syracuse, N.Y., while he studied for a degree in forestry, and in Oakridge and Corvallis, Ore., as he pursued a career in the Forest Service.
Robert died in a tragic automobile accident in 1968. In 1969, Pat married William C. “Bill” Fessel Jr. in Corvallis on Aug. 2, 1969. They moved to Baker County, Ore., in 1983.
She was a member, and served as a deacon, of the First Presbyterian Church and was a 65-plus year member of the PEO Sisterhood.
Her first husband and her parents preceded Pat in death.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Fessell of Rock Creek, Ore., her foster daughter, Julia Reed-Vodal of Federal Way, Wash., and numerous cousins.
