April 17, 1957 – Oct. 31, 2017
Funeral services for Pete Allen Kuhn, former pastor of Grace Southern Baptist Church in Greybull, were held Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Winnemucca, Nev. Pete, 60, passed away Oct. 31.
He was born April 17, 1957, in Las Vegas, the son of David and Bette “Pinky” Kuhn. He graduated from Valley High School in 1975, and attended the University of Nevada-Reno (UNR) on a football scholarship. After playing football at UNR for three seasons, Pete tried out for the Denver Broncos, but injury closed the door on that opportunity. Soon after he entered the mining industry
Pete married Sharon Raegen in March 1979; she passed away in April 1979. In 1980 he married Alexis Gorman and adopted her son, Chris; together they had a child, Kyle.
He married Holly Ann on Sept. 1, 1995, and adopted her two children, Alexander Kuhn and Amanda Briggs.
Intimidating at first glance, any reservations one had about Pete were quickly dismissed by his big smile and enthusiastic greeting. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and surrendered to the ministry. He was genuinely interested in everyone’s well being and was one of the first to offer a helping hand.
Pete’s secular job in the mining industry gave him the opportunity to expand his ministry at each of the stops, whether that was at his first church, Grace Southern Baptist in Greybull, or Imlay Baptist Church in Imlay, Nev.
Pete was always the first to admit his faults and missteps; he never pretended to be perfect. He enjoying sharing his testimony because he felt if he could find salvation, anyone could.
His passion for his faith, his family and life will have a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.
He is survived by his wife Holly; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Chris, Kyle, Alexander and Jessica; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Danny and eight grandchildren.
