Big Horn Basin Rodeo Circuit races widen as finale nears

Several cowboys and cowgirls have commanding leads heading into the annual Labor Day rodeo in Meeteetse, which is the ninth and final event of this year’s Big Horn Basin Rodeo Circuit.

Chris Williams (saddle bronc), Jayce Sorensen (kids breakaway), Jake Schlattmann (junior steer riding), Aspen Leonhardt (junior barrels), Della Eppler (barrels), Ethan Adams (bulls), Casey Good (team roping-header) and J.T. Collingwood (team roping-heeler) all hold leads of 10 points or more on the circuit’s leader board.

Competitors accumulate points based on their finishes at the nine circuit events, which include those held in Cowley in May, Meeteetse, Greybull and Lovell in June, Ten Sleep and Cowley in July, Worland and Basin in August and Meeteetse in September.

Here are the top three in each event heading into the final:

 

BAREBACK — 1, Luke Wozney, 27 points.  2, Skyler Erickson, 19.  3, TJ Willis and Jeffrey Zdziarski.

RANCH BRONC — 1, Travis Banks, 44.5.  2, Marshall Gibbs, 42.5.  3, Levi Klemm, 39.5.

SADDLE BRONC — 1, Chris Williams, 70.  2, Brodie Wells, 18.5.  3, Chanse Darling, 10.5.

CALF ROPING — 1, Tate Edeler, 41.  2, Casey Good, 29.  3, Logan Siefert, 28.

KIDS BREAKAWAY — 1, Jayce Sorensen, 39.  2, Wyatt Bolken, 23.  3, Trent McNabb, 21.

WOMEN’S BREAKAWAY — 1, Calli Nelson, 44.  2, Lacee Williams, 43.  3, Kayleen Chaffee, 20.

JUNIOR STEER RIDING — 1, Jake Schlattmann, 66.  2, Jayce Sorensen, 35.5.  3, Joe Lanham, 34.5.

JUNIOR BARRELS — 1, Aspen Leonhardt, 60.  2, Cathryn Vineyard, 34.  3, Virginia Lohr, 33.
