Donald Dean Lassiter, Jr.

Oct. 27, 1969 – Feb. 12, 2019

Doni passed away at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo., on Feb. 12, 2019.  He was born Oct. 27, 1969, and attended school in Greybull.  He is the son of Donald Dean Lassiter, Sr., and Karen Jones.

Humor, gratitude, loyalty and generosity were his hallmarks and it is quite fitting, as an organ donor, that he gave his heart on Valentine’s Day.

As a Wyoming native, Doni enjoyed many of the outdoor activities Wyoming had to offer. He was an avid survivalist who relished the challenges of nature.

His preferred campsite was Hawk Rock (so-named by him).  When he discovered it, the area was littered with trash and overgrown with thistles.  Doni packed trash out, pulled thistles, burned it in the campfire and within a few years the area was once again pristine.  This was his practice wherever he went.

His back was injured working in the oil field and in construction, but his mind was never idle.  He was a walking encyclopedia and blessed with a curious and hungry mind.

Doni was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sr.  He leaves behind his partner, Amy Whitman of Casper, daughter, Samantha, mother, Karen Jones of Cody, a sister, Kerri (Matt) Wagner of Volga, S.D., half-brothers, James (Stacie) Childs of Santaquin, Utah, Ronald (Lynde) Childs of Cheyenne, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who love and miss him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Newcomer Casper Chapel in Casper, Wyo.

  1. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your loved one. In the Bible, a man named Job raised the question: “If an able-bodied man dies can he live again?” Then he answered: “I shall wait [in the grave] until my relief comes. [God] will call, and I myself shall answer.” (Job 14:14, 15) What a joy it will be when that time arrives and the dead are reunited with their loved ones! “What happens when you die”, Find the Bible’s answers to this question at (Go to Bible Teachings -› Bible Questions Answered.
