Dorothy J. Larchick

Jan. 30, 1928 – Dec. 28, 2011

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Larchick of Basin was held Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greybull.  Dorothy, 83, died peacefully Dec. 28 at Billings Clinic Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Cheyenne to Pete and Lydia (Rohn) Weickum.  She graduated from high school in Cheyenne in 1945.  Dorothy married her high school sweetheart and the love of her live, David Larchick, on June 7, 1946, after his return from the Navy and the end of World War II.

After their marriage, Dorothy and Dave started their own businesses, and also went into ranching.  After many years of ranching, they sold their ranch and moved to Greybull in 1976 to buy and run a business, and later, moved to Basin where they made their home.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 65 years; sons and daughters-in-law Gale and Vickie Larchick of Basin and Mike and Glenda Larchick of Basin; daughters and sons in law Jeanne and David VanGelder and Peggy Werner of Basin; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Weickum of Cheyenne; and sister Ruth and Don Kent of Chandler, Ariz.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lorraine Gadd.

Dorothy was always a positive light to everyone she came in contact with; she loved her life, her family and laughter.  Rarely was there a time where she was not sharing a joke, teasing or laughing with her husband, her children and her family.  Her optimism, good cheer, sparkling eyes and smile will be missed.

Rosary prayers were Tuesday, Jan. 3 at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull. Burial followed the Mass of Christian Burial at Mount View Cemetery in Basin.
