Felines and Friends (F & F) purchased a chair and a stool at the Sitting Pretty in Greybull Auction last weekend and will now raffle the items off as a fundraiser for F & F.
The "Mermaid" Chair is adorned with large glass beads and seashells. It has a definite "under the sea" look to it, , Felines and Friends volunteer Barbara Anne Greene said. The stool, applicably named "Fiesta!", would be perfect for a little young princesses' room, she said. Both pieces were created by artist Angelia Zambai of Casper.
Felines and Friends is an animal rescue group that helps with stray and abandoned animals. When the animals are taken in they are given a health checkup and vaccinations through Saam Vet Clinic. If they are old enough they are spayed or neutered, Greene said. Because so many cats have been taken in lately, including wild ones, once an animal has been spayed or neutered the tip of the right ear has been squared off or notched. This way the animals can be easily identified as having been spayed/neutered.
Even though the cats get new homes they may go back to where they were rescued. If you see an animal that has an ear like this you can be assured that it has had all its shots and is no longer making more cats, she said.
The chair and stool are on display at the Basin Area Chamber office. Tickets are available at the office or at the Greybull Chamber and Saam Vet. You may also contact any F & F volunteer to purchase tickets, which are $1 each.
The drawing will be November 4. The proceeds will go directly to the cost of vaccinations, spay/neuter, medications and daily care of the animals. Donations are welcome anytime and foster homes are always needed.
