July 29, 1930 - April 1, 2009
Per his request, no services are planned for Douglas Frederick Wyatt, who died April 1 at Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home.
He was born July 29, 1930, in Vancouver, British Columbia and moved with his family to Toronto when he was a young child.
He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1949 and served for three years. He was later employed at the Chrysler Corporation in Toronto. In 1969, the company transferred him to Atlanta. In the early 1970s, he became vice-president of the truck division of National Car Rental.
He became a naturalized citizen of the United States June 18, 1975.
Doug was a member of the Zetland Wilson Lodge in Toronto and continued his Masonic affiliation with lodges in the United States.
An excellent musician, he played the drum or horn in Shriner bands for parades and national competitions. He received his pilot’s license from the Flight Training Center in Minnesota in 1979. He felt his greatest accomplishment was flying children to Shriners’ hospitals and St. Jude’s in Memphis.
He is survived by his daughter, Adrienne Morstad-Wyatt, 16, of Basin; longtime friend Alta Morstad of Manderson, and a niece, Dee Stikeman of Toronto.
Doug’s ashes will be scattered near his favorite fishing hole in the Big Horn Mountains.
