Mark your calendars. America’s Best Idea — the National Parks — gets even better this summer … it’s free.
On Tuesday, June 2, Secretary Salazar announced three summer weekends where national park entrance fees will be waived.
Bighorn Canyon invites residents to come and enjoy the park during the following weekends in which entrance fees will be waived — June 20-21 (Father’s Day Weekend); July 18-19; and Aug. 15-16.
The first weekend corresponds with the 2009 Bighorn Lake Celebration. The entrance fee for Bighorn Canyon will be waived that weekend from noon on Friday, June 19 through June 21. The entrance fee free weekends in July and August remain as stated above. The utility fee for the improved campsites at Horseshoe Bend campground will not be waived.
Ranger lead programs are scheduled for the all three weekends. Times for these programs will be posted at the Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center, in the campgrounds, and on the Bighorn Canyon website, www.nps.gov/bica.
