Memorial services for Claudia Ann Chapman Derringer will be held July 5 at noon at the Community Bible Church in Manderson. Claudia, 64, died June 4 in Billings after a brief illness.
She was born June 20, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Donald and Naomi Murdock Chapman. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1962. She married her first husband, Darrell Cloud, Dec. 21, 1963, in Texas. They were divorced and she relocated to Dover, Dela. where she worked for the State of Delaware.
Claudia married Kenneth Derringer July 31, 1984, in Dover. They made their home in Warrens, Wis., while Ken finished his Army career and she worked for the U.S. government as an Army purchasing and contracting officer. She retired in 2006.
In late 2006, Claudia and Ken moved back to the Big Horn Basin where Ken had been raised and settled near Hyattville.
She was active in church work and was an associate member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. She was a member of the Community Bible Church in Manderson.
Claudia was an avid cook and enjoyed gourmet cooking. She also enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, sewing and creating family albums and took special delight in her children and grandchildren.
Her parents, Donald and Naomi Chapman, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Ken of Hyattville; a son, Derek Cloud of Elkton, Md.; a stepson Erik Derringer of Cheyenne; one sister, Donna Cerise, of Grand Meadow, Minn, and seven grandchildren.
