The Shack has applied for one of the 1,000 national grants offered by Pepsi in March. The local faith-based community youth center applied for a $250,000 grant in the neighborhood category to help remodel its building on North Fifth Street. To win the grant, The Shack has to be one of the two top-vote getters in the $250,000 category.
If you have an e-mail account you can vote — once each day for each email account you have. Just go to RefreshEverything.com, type in “The Shack” in the search function in the top right hand corner, use the drop-down menu and click on “those near you.” There you will find The Shack either in the $250,000 category or the neighborhood category. You might have to click on the “load more” icon toward the bottom of the page. When you find The Shack just click on the “vote for this idea” button. You can vote every day until March 31 for each e-mail account you have.
David Bottom, executive director of The Shack, said “We need tens of thousands of people voting every day. We have a video on Youtube under The Greybull Shack and are also on Facebook at The Shack. Write, call, e-mail, text, twitter, post, send a carrier pigeon if you want, to everyone you know and urge them to vote for The Shack.”
The voting deadline is midnight EST March 31.
“This is bigger than March Madness,” Bottom wrote.
