It’s countdown time for the 2010 Buffalo Roundup. As of Tuesday, with the all-school reunion  just 21 days away, 470 registrations have been received with more expected to come in.
A tentative schedule of events include opening registration Friday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the GHS cafeteria. After registering alums are invited to a 4-7 p.m. get-together at the Greybull Library co-hosted by Friends of the Greybull Library and the Roy and Caryl Core Cline family. Meet your friends, enjoy a sip of sangria, a few hors d‘oeuvres and listen to ‘60s music played by The Saugers, whose musicians include GHS grads David Van Gelder and Jim Galusha.
Friday evening there will be a wide variety of activities from which to choose. There’s the ‘49er rodeo, a slide presentation at the Greybull Museum on early history presented by Tom Davis and class get-togethers. These get-togethers are the responsibility of the individual classes.
Saturday starts off with a bang at 7 a.m. with a fun run, late registration and breakfast at the GHS cafeteria. Coming up in quick order are the annual ‘49er parade, a golf scramble, kids games at the park, kids rodeo at the rodeo grounds, and if there’s enough interest, another slide show at the library.
For something a little different, plan on being at the Herb Asp Community Center at 4 p.m. and watch an early-day movie of a trip down the Big Horn River presented by Shirley Kershner and the Big Horn County Historical Society.
Saturday evening there is the banquet, program and individual class pictures — all at Greybull High School, followed by the street dance.
Closing out the weekend will be Sunday breakfast at GHS from 8-10 and a worship service at football field. Guest speaker will be Jerry Ewen, Class of ’65.
Among grads you’ll be seeing are: from the 1940s, Sonny Rice, LaVere Hamilton, Emma Peterson McNiven, Don (and Dawn) Olsen.
Graduating in the 1950s and coming back to the old hometown will be Greta Hirsch Clarken, Estell Brown, Joanne Stevens Hallcroft, Don Sabbe, LuAnn Sabbe Lorensen, Roberta Snyder Heaten; the 60s era returnees include Karen Wamhoff Schutte, Michael Bruce, Susan Davis Summerfield, Mary Werbelow Shepard, Bill Unterzuber, Curtis Holland, Dr. Norm Schaffer, Judy Chandler Pheanis.
Dave and Vicki Mitchell Ewen, John Roberts, Debbie Blakesley, Ellen Nielsen Jacobson, Stan Higgens and Carolyn Lampman Brubaker will be among “younger” alums who’ll be on hand. There are dozens more, so be sure and get your registrations in so you’ll there to greet them.
