Funeral services for Helen Rosie Olsen were held June 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Worland. Helen, 89, died June 17 at the Washakie Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born May 17, 1921, in Basin, the daughter of Frederick and Elsie Reinke Marcus, the oldest of four children. Her family lived on Emblem Bench. She attended school and graduated from Greybull High School.
She married Harold Olsen July 4, 1940. The couple lived and raised their five children in Worland. She loved caring for her family. She was a wonderful cook and was famous for the twists and cinnamon rolls she made every morning for many years. She worked at Cream of the Valley in Worland so she could help her children pay for college.
Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was interested in genealogy research and learned to use a computer to help in her research. She was a gracious, loving, caring person and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Her husband Harold; two brothers, Delbert and Frank; and one grandson, Chris Olsen, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Martha Olsen of Worland and Anthony and Sandra Olsen of Corvallis, Ore.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Olsen of St. George, Utah, Elsie and Floyd Thompson of Preston, Idaho, and Edith and Mac Crosby of Cowley; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and June Marcus of Billings; sister-in-law, Clara Marcus of California, 16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in the Burlington Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Humanitarian Aid Program (Worldwide Disaster Relief) in care of Bryant Funeral Home, Box 524, Worland, WY 82401.
