August proved to be another good month with a gross revenue of $1.75 million, according to Three Rivers Health CEO Tadd Greenfield. “Our gross revenue was actually one of the highest we have ever had” commented the CEO during the regularly scheduled board meeting in September.

Treasurer Michael McColloch was tasked with presenting the August financials during the Zoom gathering on Sept. 23. In his report, McColloch noted there was approximately a $200,000 increase in revenue for the hospital, radiology and laboratory departments. High volumes contributed to the surplus. The treasurer informed the board volumes and revenue weren’t the only areas showing an increase.

According to McColloch expenses for contract labor has also been on the rise. Greenfield said if contract labor were annualized, it would amount to approximately $1.5 to $1.8 million. “Contract labor is killing us,” stated Greenfield. “We have to think of some different ways to increase recruiting, especially nursing.” The CEO went on to say he has been discussing the possibility of increasing sign-on bonuses with the chief talent officer.

Potential employees will not be the only recipients of a bonus from Three Rivers Health. Existing employees may pocket a few extra dollars as well. Per Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Linda Walker, an influx of admissions at Three Rivers Health and surrounding facilities has kept staff very busy. Walker stated in her board report, “With having multiple nurses out with COVID -19 we have implemented bonuses for the clinical staff picking up extra shifts.” Walker added Three Rivers Health has been collaborating with other facilities by taking referrals from and decreasing the load of larger facilities.

CTO Tamara Sawyer produced a sneak peek of a project she has been managing for the facility. The CTO gave a brief overview of the new Three Rivers Health website. The new and improved web address trhealth.com went live at noon on Sept. 24. The user-friendly website allows patients to find a physician, explore service offerings, browse job listings and more. Another step in the rebranding processes, the new site highlights the mission, vision and values adopted by the facility.
