Marena Lee Gentry Chapman

Sept. 9, 2022

Marena Lee Gentry Chapman joined her husband Dale Edward Chapman on Sept. 9 at the age of 74.  Marena is survived by her daughter Tera Chapman Cowles of Cody, husband Jerry Cowles, 11 grandchildren and 3 grandchildren by marriage.

Marena also leaves behind her son, Tad Chapman of Oklahoma City, and his son, and many loved ones that called her mom by choice. To those that knew her, she was a loyal lifelong friend.

Marena was the only child of Cassius (Cash) and Edith Gentry. While born in Oklahoma, she went on an adventure and moved to Worland, Wyo., with her family early in life.  She met Dale before her senior year of high school and they had an adventure for 45 years before Dale was called to heaven.

She was an avid quilter and seamstress. She loved browsing the fabric store. If she didn't look at every section of the store, the adventure was not complete. Cooking and all the gadgets were … an addiction for her.  She needed to have them all, just like her grandchildren with Pokémon. Food was an adventure and trying new and exciting cuisine was a favorite pastime. She ran Smoking Okie with her husband for several years. She raised her children in the kitchen; she even tried some of their food! When she gets to heaven, if God’s kitchen isn’t just how she likes it, it soon will be.

She loved a good story and one of her favorites was The Mandalorian, which surprised many of her friends and family since she was a firm Star Trek fan.  She has always loved a good adventure.

Onward to the next adventure.

Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte Crematory in Greybull. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
