A spectacular red-hued display on Carmon Avenue in Lovell was judged the top Christmas lighting display in North Big Horn County in the annual contest sponsored by the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce.

Richard Morrison lined his home at 295 Carmon in red lights, with some multi-colored lights mixed in, and erected a huge hand-built wreath with a red bow, wowing passersby out observing Christmas lights.

Members of the chamber board of directors fanned out last week to perform the judging.

Finishing a close second was the grand display at 897 Lane 12 put up by Steve and Melissa Durfee featuring in the yard a lighted carriage, reindeer, a white light Christmas tree,  blue and white light Christmas trees, a nativity scene and lights on the Durfee home.

Two displays tied for third place, both of them longtime favorites in the area.

Joyce Zarate at 122 East Platte in Byron sports a yard filled with brightly lit displays featuring a street scene complete with a horse drawn sleigh and historic characters.

The Phyrn Opp home at 1050 Nevada in Lovell features a classic display of white lights adorning the home and reindeer in the yard.

The winning display wins $100, second place $50 and each third-place winner $25 apiece.
