Veterans dinner in the works for Nov. 11

In and around the communities of Basin, Lovell, Burlington, Emblem, Shell, Manderson, Hyattville and Greybull are hundreds of individuals who have served in the military.

All of these veterans, along with their spouse/guest, are invited to a dinner on Friday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) at the Greybull Elks Lodge.

The social hour at 6 p.m. will be followed by dinner at 7. The dinner is free for veterans and $12 for his/her spouse or guest (one per veteran).  The goal is to serve 150 people.

Spearheaded and hosted by the Greybull Elks Lodge, the dinner is a community-wide effort that includes local businesses, civic and religious organizations, caring families and individuals.

Donations of money, food and time are making it all possible.

Any money left after paying the cost of the dinner will be used to fund future veterans programs that are run through the Elks.

The menu features prime rib, baked potatoes, bacon green beans, salads, homemade rolls and desserts, coffee, tea and punch.

Pam Flitner, veterans dinner chair for the Elks, said, “We would like this to be an evening to pay tribute by providing an enjoyable meal, a time for comradery and memories and a bit of entertainment, letting them know we appreciate their military service to our communities and the country.”

Because seating is limited, veterans are asked to RSVP by Tuesday, Nov. 8. Call Pam at 765-2552 or email the Elks at BPOE1431@gmail.com. Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help that evening as well.
