Helen Marie Werbelow

Lifetime resident of Emblem, Wyoming, Helen Marie Werbelow, age 95, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the Powell Valley Care Center.

Helen was born March 14, 1916, in Emblem, Wyoming, to Carsten and Marie Jensen. She lived on the family farm with her parents, brother Nahne and sister Elsie. Helen attended Emblem Elementary School graduating from the eighth grade. After which time, she worked for the Preis family and worked on the family farm.

She met and married Lester Werbelow on Dec. 6, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church at Emblem. She joined her husband on their farm in Emblem where she lived for 66 years.

Helen was a member of the Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, was a member and officer of the Emblem Community Club, was a flower superintendent and exhibitor at the Big Horn County Fair for some 40 years, and was an active member of the Emblem Bridge Club. Helen enjoyed her flowers, canning, and sharing jokes.

Helen is survived by her daughters: Loretta (Roy) Herren of Billings, Mont., and Rhonda (Thomas) Faulkner of Powell, Wyo.; her grandchildren: Teo Faulkner, Steven (Janelle) Herren, Jenny (Ryan) Kindig, Scott (Dana) Werbelow and Wade Werbelow; eight great-grandchildren: Wesley and Wendy Werbelow, Carsten and Caden Werbelow, Calleigh and Luke Herren and Reese and Nash Kindig; brother-in-law Robert (Martha) Werbelow of Greybull, Wyo., and nieces and nephews, Carl (Leila) Jones, Evelyn (Joseph) Roach, Christine (LeRoy) Klitzke, Julie (Raefel) Valenzuela, Cindy Werbelow, John (Linda) Werbelow, Carol Jean (Ronald) Rogers, Calvin (Carol Ann) Werbelow, and Wayne (Debbie) Werbelow.

Preceding Helen in death are her parents; husband Lester; son William; brother Nahne Jensen; sister Elsie Jones; grandson Anthony Werbelow; sisters-in-law Emma Jensen and Elaine Werbelow; and brothers-in-law Vern and Louis Werbelow and Bill Jones.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem, Wyo., with Pastors Lee Wiroth and Pastor Paul Bundschuh as co-officiants. Burial followed in the Emblem Cemetery.

In honor of Helen, memorials can be sent to Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem, Wyo.
