The Days of '49 street dance has been moved from the stoplight to the intersection of North Fifth Street and Greybull Avenue. Festivities start at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The public is invited to help celebrate the anniversary of its local mining company. A fifth-generation, family-owned company headquartered in Billings, Montana, the local Wyo-Ben’s Magnet Cove Plant in Greybull will be open to the community on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“New York City’s Rockettes couldn’t have caused any greater sensation than Greybull’s Can-Can dancers...” the May 6, 1965, issue of the Greybull Standard reads. Though the paper printed black and white, the article describes the dancers’ orange costumes as “electric,” with a high-energy routine to match. 

Birders flock to Shell Valley for AHTC tour

The local Arts and Humanities Trapper Creek workshop and lecture series group hosted a birding field trip Saturday morning in the Shell Valley area. A group of 10 that included first-time birders and avid birders – from Shell, Greybull, Cody and Sheridan – met before sunrise and toured various locations around the Shell Valley and the Bighorn Mountains. 

Native American rock art vandalized

The Bureau of Land Management is investigating recent acts of vandalism at six Native American rock art sites in the Bighorn Basin. One site suffered significant damage after a bonfire was lit directly beneath a rock art panel, resulting in discoloration, cracking, and the loss of rock fragments. Additionally, the same panel and several others have been defaced with names and phrases scratched onto and around the petroglyphs. Multiple sites have also sustained damage from gunfire.  

Police, parents discuss safety as mini bikes gain popularity

With school out for summer, it seems there’s a mini motorcycle gang cruising Greybull’s city streets. Motorized and electric bikes have become increasingly popular, with little legal guidance or educational programming available on the matter. Biking around town has long been a summer activity for Greybull’s youth, but the new technology is drawing safety concerns.
