Donald R. Amend, Jr., died at home in Powell, Wyo., Aug. 16, 2024.
Don was born April 24, 1944, in Chicago, Ill., to Donald R. Amend, Sr. and Mary Louise Dyson Amend, the first of six siblings. The family lived in New Orleans, La., where Don Sr. was stationed with the Navy until after World War II, then briefly in Ogden, Utah before moving to Laramie, Wyo., where Don. Jr. developed his earliest memories. Following his father’s graduation from the University of Wyoming, the family lived in Superior and Hyattville before moving to Worland.
After two years at the Hyattville school, Don was educated in the Worland schools, graduating from Worland High School in 1962. He attended the University of Wyoming, where he met his wife Karen Olson and completed a bachelor of education degree in 1966. In 1973 he earned a master’s degree through summer school at UW.

Funeral services for William Jack Deveraux, 92, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.  Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at Mount View Cemetery in Basin, Wyo.

Betty (Strauch) Justice

Betty (Strauch) Justice passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 17, 2024, in her home after a long battle with cancer.
Betty was born in Billings, Mont., on July 22, 1950, and grew up on the family farm in nearby Laurel. After graduating high school in 1968, she attended Kinman Business University in Spokane before returning to Laurel. She later met her first husband Tom Dell and moved to Greybull, Wyo., after a short time in Washington and Minnesota. Her son Shanon was born in 1975.
An active member and one-time president of the local BPO DOES, she often helped cook and serve meals for many large events held at the Greybull Elks Lodge in the early 1980s. Betty worked at First Interstate Bank in Greybull as a secretary during that time.

The graveside service/interment for Ida Jane (Grisham) Gilmore will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Whaley Cemetery, 3230 CR-R36, Greybull, Wyo.
A reception will follow at Shell Community Hall, 201 Smith Ave., Shell, Wyo.
Ida, 91, died June 29, 2024.

James Houston Grisham

James “Jim” Houston Grisham, 87, passed away on July 1, 2023, in Cody.
Jim was born on December 21, 1935, in Shell. He was the fifth child born to Shedrick “Hoot” and Bertha Grisham.
Jim learned to work hard at an early age and spent most of his childhood and teen years helping his family cut and haul timber out of the Big Horn Mountains.
Jim was passionate about his love for hunting and fishing. He loved to hunt so much that during hunting season in the ninth grade when his teacher told him to either come to class or turn his books in, he turned his books in.
