Judy Gaye McMahon

August 24, 1939 – April 23, 2026

Judy Gaye McMahon, age 86, passed away on April 23, 2026 at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin, Wyoming.

Judy was born on August 24, 1939 in Rawlins, Wyoming to Eldon and Frances Caldwell. She graduated from Rawlins High School and went on to build a life rooted deeply in the values and traditions of Wyoming — a place she was proud to call home throughout her life.

On July 25, 1959, Judy married the love of her life, Keith McMahon. Together they raised three daughters and created a home filled with love and laughter. In 1972, they moved to the Big Horn Basin, where they became well-known members of the community. Judy and Keith owned and operated the Highway Bar and Cafe for more than three decades, welcoming friends, neighbors, and travelers alike with warmth and hospitality.

Judy was a longtime member of the Manderson Homemakers Club and served her community on the town council. She was known for her quiet strength, quick wit, and steady kindness. Her life was an example of generosity, hard work, and devotion to others.

She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially time spent in the mountains and long rides through the hills she loved so much. Above all, Judy’s greatest joy was her family.

Judy is survived by her three daughters: Julie (Ed) Craft of Greybull, Jamie (Kris) Lundt of Polson, Mont. and Marcy (Todd) Bowling of Gillette; her sister, Jerry Zacharias of Tucson, Ariz. and her brother, Jon Caldwell of Thayne, Wyo. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren—Tyler, Amber, Tawn, Ciera, Brandon, Karissa and Cayden—and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith McMahon, and her parents, Eldon and Frances Caldwell.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Judy’s name to a charity of your choice.

A heartfelt thank you to her extended family at the Wyoming Retirement Center for their care and compassion.

Judy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte Crematory in Greybull. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
