New scam tries to scare people into paying in Bitcoin

Scammers are getting more creative. A recent email scam hitting Big Horn County includes a QR code to scan.  Don’t scan it. The email is typically addressed to a person by their last name first and lists your physical address and a phone number. The scam itself is an attachment written as a letter. Included in the letter is the QR code, a photo and a request to pay in Bitcoin. It states you can scan the QR code or go to the listed Bitcoin address.

Forest Service office is open limited hours

Due to staffing shortages that have impacted services provided, the Medicine Wheel Ranger District office in Greybull, Wyoming, is open by appointment. As always, it is a good idea to call ahead prior to visiting any of the Bighorn National Forest offices to ensure the services you need can be provided with the staff available.

Powell man dies in crash

POWELL (WNE) — A collision between a vehicle and a semi-truck hauling sugar beets resulted in the death of a Powell man on Monday morning. The crash, which claimed the life of 32-year-old Joel Torres, occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on U.S. Highway 14A, about a mile west of Ralston.
