Carlene Roselie Thompson

Carlene Roselie Thompson passed away Feb. 15, 2023, with her husband near her side. 

She was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Modesto, Calif., to Barbra and Benjamin Fisk. Carlene, her sisters, Carol and Bethel, and mother married James S. Gillen and added brother Michael. They moved to Sierra City, Calif., where Carlene attended high school and met Wilbur Thompson.

Carlene and Wilbur were married in 1956. They lived in Nevada where their
daughters Debra and Kathy were born. Soon they moved to California and son Tim was born. Carlene was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed living near her twin sister.

Carlene and family moved to Greybull in 1970. She enjoyed life in Greybull. When she wasn’t busy helping with the Days of ‘49 classic car show, you could find her in her flower and vegetable garden. She loved her peonies and sunflowers. Carlene enjoyed her weekly Bible study and going to coffee with friends. She was an avid reader and loved doing crosswords. She made many friends through her community service in 4-H, attending sporting events and church as well as helping Wilbur with his ranch and engine shop.

She worked for 23 years as a CNA at Wyoming Retirement Center where she loved and cared for the residents and staff. Carlene was always so kind, caring and so positive in everything that she did at home or in the community. Carlene enjoyed spending time visiting and helping her eight grandchildren. They are spread from Alaska to New Hampshire. She had seven great grandchildren.

A celebration of Carlene’s life is being planned, but no date is set yet. Cremation has taken place at the Antelope Butte Crematory in Greybull.
