The Lady Buff JV squad used strong defense to win its final two games of the season, beating Shoshoni 25-22, 25-19 on Friday and Big Horn 25-20, 25-21 on Saturday.
Coach Christine Armel said her team “had an amazing night in Shoshoni,” crediting Perla Rodriguez for the improvement she’s shown in her front-row attacks along with Camila Acuna, who “did a great job working the net with blocks as well as attacks.”
The girls continued their strong play on Saturday, sweeping Big Horn.
“Julie Lopez did a great job in her passing skills as well as covering the back row, Shayne Cheatham stepped up and picked up a lot of passing and had a steady game, and Fatima Chavez and Wyatt Whaley led in serves,” said Armel. “The JV girls had a great season and have come a long way from our first games.
“I am proud of how hard they have worked on their skills as well as being a team and supporting one another.”
C team
The C team reached the end of its season on Oct. 16 when it lost in two sets to Powell.  Match scores were 13-25 and 19-25.
The loss came on the heels of an Oct. 14 match with Wind River.  Greybull won the first set 25-15, but lost the second 10-25.  Given the Libero jersey, Rhianna Gaytan stepped up to the challenge, leading the team in digs.  Marlee Henson had a great serving game with 15 good serves, including seven aces.
The C team finished 5-6.
“All of the girls have improved so much this year and I couldn’t be more proud of them,” said Payten Sorenson, the C team coach. “A few have been asked to step up to the JV level and even the varsity level.
“I’m proud of all of them and I look forward to seeing what next year has in store for them.”
