Turquoise Terrors defeat Ruby Reds in season opener

The Big Horn County Gems softball program kicked off its inaugural season Thursday with opening day ceremonies at Constitution Park.

The ceremonies began with the parade of teams, led by their coaches, ranging from T-ball to 14U.

After the parade of teams, the ceremonial first pitch was thrown out by members of the Big Horn County Gems softball board.

After the ceremonies, it was time to play ball as the Club Dauntless Ruby Reds and the AXENOX Turquoise Terrors took the field.

The Turquoise Terrors avenged their loss from Tuesday, June 1, and defeated the Ruby Reds 11-4.

Ashley Mangus, Hannity Felkins and Keylee Christiansen each scored two runs for the Terrors.

Christiansen pitched a complete game, striking out 10 Ruby Red batters.

Kindle Collins, Janelle Hessenthaler, Sara Brinkheroff and Caitlyn Allen each scored a run for the Ruby Reds.

Brinkerhoff pitched three innings for the Ruby Reds, striking out two batters. Danika Crumrine pitched the final inning, fanning one batter.

Monday, the Ruby Reds and Turquoise Terrors defeated a pair of Powell teams in Powell. No scores or stats were available.

Tuesday scheduled softball games were cancelled due to the potential wet weather that was heading for the area.

Thursday, the Ruby Reds and Turquoise Terrors face a pair of Cody teams in Cody. Monday, the two teams will face a pair of Powell teams at 5:30 and 7 p.m. in Powell.

Tuesday, the two local teams will meet each other at 6:30 p.m. at Constitution Park.
