90 Years Ago: Voters throw support behind New Deal candidate

Nov. 7, 1924

This section has enjoyed the finest brand of weather that could be put out while the southwest part of the state had a snowstorm.

Halloween passed in Greybull without any great damage being demonstrated. The little folks were out in the early evening with their jack o’ lanterns, calling at the homes of their friends and neighbors.

90 years ago

Nov. 8, 1934

Wyoming voters went to the polls Tuesday and delivered an emphatic approval of the New Deal candidate.

80 years ago

Nov. 9, 1944

Only 67 elk have been checked through the Shell check station this season, which closes Monday.

Fifth grade news courtesy of the elementary school’s Sentinel: “We were sorry to have Martha Link withdraw from our group on Oct. 23.  She will attend the East Emblem school.”  Also: “Total amount of war bonds and stamps purchased by members of our class since Oct. 2 is $317.”

From Thoughts by Vonnie: “If you want candid, no-nonsense answers, ask a 3- or 4-year-old a few questions.  Shane Isabel, son of Tim and Rita Isabel, came over to “supervise” Chuck’s deer-skinning operation so Chuck asked him if his daddy got a deer.  Shane: “Yep.”  Chuck: “When did he get his deer?”  Shane:  “When he shot him.”  Chuck: “Where did he shoot him?”  Shane: “In the granary.”

50 years ago

Nov. 7, 1974

Members of the Greybull High School band became “gleaners” last Saturday to give a boost to the band uniforms fund.  They scrounged for beets in the Dave Bernard field on the airport bench.

 Mary Frances Spragg of Basin and Charles Albert Thomas of Greybull exchanged wedding vows at the Eagles Lodge, Nov. 1.
