A weekend sweep of Rocky Mountain and Wind River has put the Greybull Buffs in position to capture the Class 2A Northwest Conference championship, which they can do this weekend with a win over Shoshoni.
Coach Logan Burningham’s team overcame a shaky start in Cowley Friday night, using a 12-0 run late in the third quarter as a springboard to a 61-52 win and followed that up with a dominant performance in a 62-35 win over the Cougars on Saturday to improve to 5-0 in league play.
Burningham described them as “two really good wins” for his team, which has won eight of its last 10 contests to climb within a game of the .500 mark at 9-10 heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
That the Rocky Mountain game was competitive and intense was no surprise to anyone.
