County Republicans meet to select interim assessor
Three finalists to be chosen Jan. 20
With the official resignation of Big Horn County Assessor Gina Anderson before the end of her elected term, Wyoming state statute requires the Big Horn County Republican Party to meet and select three candidates to fill the vacancy, GOP county chairman Sharon Hall announced this week.
Candidates must demonstrate the desire and ability to hold the position of county assessor, must be a resident of Big Horn County, must be a currently registered Republican and must own real property in the county, Hall said, noting that details may be found in Wyoming Statute Title 18-3-204.
Hall said anyone who is interested in becoming county assessor must submit two items: 1) a letter of intent, and 2) a brief, two-page maximum, resume of qualifications. All submittals must be made to Big Horn County Chairman Hall, by 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19. Documents may be emailed to wyosharon67@yahoo.com.
The Big Horn County Republican Party Central Committee will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. at the Big Horn County Weed and Pest building, 4782 U.S. Highway 310, Greybull, to interview and vote on all interested candidates. All interested candidates must attend the meeting in person.
Once the County Party has selected three candidates, the names will be forwarded to the Big Horn County Board of County Commissioners, who will select a replacement for Anderson, Hall said.
“The Big Horn County Republican Party would like to commend and thank Gina Anderson for her years of service as our county assessor,” Hall said. “We wish her well.”
