With 40 players out for basketball this year, the biggest challenge facing Greybull Middle School’s coaches may be divvying up playing time to ensure the adequate development of skills before they reach high school.

Cadance Wipplinger, head middle school coach, said GMS has formed four teams, instead of the usual three, and scheduled extra games to spread out playing time.  The competitive season lasts only about six weeks, starting this weekend and ending with the conference tournaments Feb. 22 in Thermopolis and Shoshoni.

The young Buffs open the season with A, B and C games on their home floor. Thermopolis will be the opponent Friday, with games at 4:15, 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. Burlington visits Saturday for 9, 10 and 11 a.m. contests.
