In the gatherings we have had over the past four or five years, there were, among the many relatives and friends, three cousins separated in age by perhaps 10 years — all adults now — who you knew, instantly, had to be swinging on branches forming the same family tree. Jenny, Hannah and Caitlin. Physically there was a resemblance, hair the same color, a self-awareness in all three. If someone who didn’t know them saw them, they could have picked them out of the crowd.
