7:15 a.m.: Officers patrolled the school zone.

11:09 a.m.: Animal neglect was reported on Hilltop Drive.

WyoLotto transfers $1 million to Wyoming’s cities, towns, counties

CHEYENNE (WNE) — WyoLotto officials announced the January 2024 transfer to Wyoming’s cities, towns and counties will be just over $1 million.

Each quarter, the organization transfers a statutory amount of 75% or more of net revenue to the state, where it is then distributed by the state treasurer to Wyoming’s cities, towns and counties.

Average gasoline prices drop 4.4 cents a gallon Wyoming

CHEYENNE (WNE) — Average gasoline prices in Wyoming have fallen 4.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.75 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy.com’s survey of 494 stations in Wyoming.

We, the Greybull Public Library, would like to send out a big thank you to all who generously donated funds to the Friends of the Greybull Library in its efforts to add to our selection of children’s holiday books. It has been a huge success and is greatly appreciated!

Speech team triumphs despite curtailed meet

Safety concerns about extreme weather brought the Thunder Basin tournament in Gillette to a premature end, but the cold couldn’t stop the Greybull speech team from capturing first in 1A/2A as the only small school to move members into semifinal or final rounds.

Coach Joel Kuper said his team was disappointed they had to depart early, in part because they were matching up against larger programs from Cheyenne and South Dakota.

Commission discusses Forest Road 12 safety

U.S. Forest Service District Ranger Mark Foster appeared before the Big Horn County commissioners at their Jan. 2 meeting. Commission Chair Bruce Jolley was not in attendance.
Joining Foster and the commissioners was County Engineer Willie Bridges. Deputy County Attorney Jen Kirk, Clerk Lori Smallwood and Sheriff Ken Blackburn.
Foster said he was there to discuss Forest Service Road 12 near the Medicine Wheel. Foster said that at the Medicine Wheel consulting party meeting in December, concerns from some of the parties and from the USFS seasonal staff were discussed.
For background purposes Foster noted that FS Road 12 is a multipurpose road and a walking path for those visiting the Wheel. The motor vehicle travel has increased significantly over the years. He credits this to the growth of recreational tourism.

Council sells 2 more Frontier lots, extends discount offer

The Town of Greybull has sold it fifth and sixth lots in its Frontier Subdivision, with lots 22 and 23 coming off the board at Monday night’s meeting of the town council.
Robert Williamson nominated the lots for sale, meeting the town’s asking price of $18,000 per acre.  Lot 22, at 1.86 acres, went for $25,110, while Lot 23, at 1.88 acres, sold for $25,380. He will now need to build at least a 750 square foot dwelling and connect it to town water within five years and also connect electric service through Big Horn REA within one year of closing.
The lots are the fifth and sixth to sell in the 37-lot subdivision, which is located east of town behind what’s commonly known as Tin Can Alley.  All of the lots in the subdivision are more than an acre in size and access to it is from Basin Garden Road.
