90 Years Ago: Construction of Greybull to Shell highway begins

The Burlington now has more train crews operating out of Greybull than at any time since the division point was established. The business is as heavy as can be handled until the roadbed in the washed-out section can be put in the shape for faster time which will be done as rapidly as possible.
The Linn-Dale Dairy received a request from Casper this week for the shipment of 100 gallons of milk a day. The Standard has believed for some time it would be possible to find a market for 500 to 1,000  gallons of milk a day from Greybull and it still believes it. It ought to be possible to bring milk in here up to a distance of 20 miles and ship it at a profit. All that is necessary is getting enough people interested in furnishing milk.

About 1 o’clock Tuesday morning, three masked men entered a place at Kirby conducted by Joe Mtyuskovich and held up and robbed a poker game that was in progress. 
The three men made the players stick up their hands while they gathered in the money.
The Shell Creek potato crop was close to a failure here this year.  Orville Wilkerson got a good crop but nearly all others are only fair to failures.
For the first time since July 22, the Burlington got a passenger train between this place and Casper, with No. 29 coming through from Casper.
There has been some objection to the arrangement of playing high school football games on Saturday instead of on Friday.

One Health awarded $583k in Covid Health Disparities Grant funds

One Health has been awarded $583,547 from the Covid-19 Health Disparities Grant Programs.  

Wyoming has dedicated $8.1 million in federal funding to help eligible entities build up the health care infrastructure and address historical inequities in their communities.  The funding is part of Wyoming’s $38.8 million allocation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for its COVID-19 Health Disparities Grant.  The Align Team manages this portion of the COVID-19 Health Disparities Grant for the Wyoming Department of Health.

Registrations are being accepted through Tuesday, Oct. 24 for the fall session of “Parenting the Love and Logic Way,” a six-week program that meets Wednesdays starting Oct. 25 in the Greybull Elementary School library.
The class will meet Wednesdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m., through Dec. 6 (skipping Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving).  The class is free and includes food and childcare (provided by Little Red Wagon) for participants.

When it comes to Halloween, one day isn’t nearly enough for all the spooky season fun that’s planned in south Big Horn County.

From haunted houses to parties and from cornhole tournaments to movies on the big screen, here’s a rundown of the events that have been reported to the newspaper offices.
